ERIE COUNTY 4-H VOLUNTEER TRAINING 2026

Returning Volunteers

must complete 2 hours of training annually that includes: Ohio 4-H Volunteer Competency Training; Youth Activities/Programs Policy; and County Program Update. Complete by May 1.

Erie County will offer a variety of options to meet training requirements that include in-person and online trainings within a three-year cycle. For two years, training will be offered in-person and online with the third year being in-person ONLY trainings. While in-person is always the preferred method, there are times when that doesn’t work for volunteers. Rotation = 2024 in-person and online options; 2025 in-person and online options; 2026 in-person ONLY options. This ensures that we see all volunteers at least once every three years. (2027 and 2028 in-person & online will return)

Returning volunteers should plan to attend an in-person training in Erie County. If a returning volunteer can’t attend one of the three in-person options, they must find a make-up in another county, attend sessions at the Ohio 4-H conference, attend the State Volunteer Equine Training and submit the Erie County 4-H Volunteer Training Form. Training must include competency training and youth activity & program policy training. The volunteer will still need to schedule a time to make up the county update portion of training. An additional alternative is to attend a training listed for New Volunteers.
